Higher life expectancy on a global level requires complex nursing care as poor education and a lack of knowledge can lead to mistakes. There is a need for nurses who can provide high quality and advanced nursing practice. A mix of well-grounded education and innovative research is needed, where the first provides an understanding of best nursing practice care delivery and the second helps nurses determine best practices and improve nursing care.'
Klavdija ?u?ek Trifkovi?, RN, PhD
Dr. Klavdija ?u?ek Trifkovi?, Senior Lecturer, is the acting dean at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences (UM FHS). She obtained her BSc, MSc, and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Education. Her doctoral dissertation is focused on alcohol-related problems. She worked as a registered nurse at the Clinic for Internal Diseases. She has been working as a senior lecturer at the UM FHS for the last twenty years. She has actively participated in different conferences and congresses in nursing and published many professional and scientific articles. Her research interests are related to the field of quality and satisfaction with life and mental disorders. Also, an important area of her professional and research interest is supervision. As an editor, she has worked for several domestic and international conference proceedings.
Mateja Lorber, RN, PhD
Mateja Lorber is an assistant professor at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences, since 2005. Before, she worked at the University Clinical Center Maribor as a registered nurse at the Clinic for Internal Diseases. Her main research interest and lecturing are gerontology nursing, managing chronic disease, leadership, and research in nursing. She presented her work at international scientific conferences and published original scientific papers in domestic and foreign scientific journals. She received the highest award (the golden sign) of the Association of Nursing Care and Midwifery Slovenia for successful work and contribution to the implementation of programs in the field of nursing, bronze and gold recognition for achievements and merits in pedagogical and scientific research work from Faculty of Health Sciences and award for scientific research, art, and educational work for exceptional successes, achievement, and merit from the rector of the University of Maribor. She is an editor in chief and managing editor for Slovenian Nursing Review.
Nata?a Mlinar Relji?, RN, MSc
Nata?a Mlinar Relji? is a senior lecturer at the University of Maribor Faculty of Health Sciences (UM FHS) and the Head of Chair nursing care. She obtained a Master degree in Management in Health and Social organization. Currently, she is a PhD candidate of Nursing Care at UM FHS. Her research interest encompasses especially spiritual care in nursing. She participated in research projects and published in international conferences, peer-reviewed journals, and a book section.
Gregor ?tiglic. PhD
Gregor Stiglic is a vice-dean for research, associate professor and head of Research Institute at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Maribor (FHS UM). He worked on numerous national and international projects in bioinformatics and healthcare informatics. Gregor was the co-founder of the Bioinformatics master study programme at the FHS UM in 2008. He also worked as a Visiting Researcher at Data Analysis and Biomedical Analytics (DABI) Center at Temple University (2012) and as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Shah Lab, Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford University (2013). His research interests include machine learning techniques with application to healthcare. Specific areas of his technical interest include comprehensibility of predictive models, human interaction-based classification, stability of feature selection algorithms, meta-learning and longitudinal rule discovery. His work was published in multiple conferences, journals and books.
