Dr Hidalgo is an internationally recognized leader in Intensive Care Medicine, at Belize Healthcare Partners. He established the first general intensive care unit in Belize in 2002. Dr Hidalgo is a pioneer of Critical Care Medicine in Belize, and in 2010, he founded Central America and the Caribbean Consortium of the Intensive Care Medicine. In recognition of his contributions to the field of Intensive Care Medicine, he has been awarded the Presidential Citation Award from the American Society of Intensive Care Medicine for ten consecutive years. He has also received the Master of the American College of Physician award from the ACP. The first Latin American Intensivist to receive the Master of the American College of Critical Care.
