Quo Vadis, Behavioural Biology? Past, Present, and Future of an Evolving Science
Die Verhaltensbiologie in Deutschland entfaltete sich seit ihrer Begründung als Tierpsychologie in verschiedene Richtungen. Teildisziplinen wie Ethologie, Verhaltensethologie, Soziobiologie, Experimentelle Psychologie, Humanethologie, Biosemiotik, Evolutionäre Psychologie und viele andere entwickelten eigene Zugangsweisen.
Im Zentrum dieser Vorgänge stand in Deutschland zeitweise Berlin mit der Biologen-Schule von Günter Tembrock, der 1948 an der Berliner Universität die erste Institution für Verhaltensbiologie in Deutschland errichtete. Ihm ist die Zusammenschau historischer Prozesse, sich wandelnder Fragestellungen und methodischer Entwicklungen gewidmet.
Der Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft eines faszinierenden Problembereichs der Biowissenschaften widmet sich der Band mit Beiträgen international herausragender älterer Vertreter des Faches zu ihren eigenen das Forschungsfeld prägenden Arbeiten, aber auch mit Referaten jüngerer Wissenschaftler zu aktuellen Themenstellungen des Gebietes.
